What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

This is also known as Spastic Colon. It’s a motility disorder involving the entire gastrointestinal tract, causing recurring upper and lower GI symptoms. This includes variable degrees of abdominal pain, constipation and/or diarrhea and abdominal bloating. Acupuncture can deliver real and lasting results.

The Cause of Irritable Bowel Syndrome

The cause is unknown in conventional medicine but it is noted that anxiety is a commonly associated symptom. It is more common in women aged 20 – 40 years. Emotional factors, diet, drugs or hormones may precipitate or aggravate heightened GI motility.

*The spleen from a Chinese Medical point of view is not limited to just the spleen organ itself but to the organs and their functions within the area of the epigastrium. This is basically a poor translation from Chinese to French and then to English.
